The Cooperative Research Centre for Vaccine Technology (CRC-VT) is bound by the Australian National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. Legislation introduced on 21 December 2001 requires the CRC-VT to have a privacy policy in place.

The CRC-VT respects the privacy of all individuals and organisations that may have details recorded in our records or databases. This information is collected from you and used primarily for the purposes of:

  • management of the Centre's research, education and commercialisation programs
  • promotion of the Centre's Activities
  • communication within the Centre

The personal information the CRC collects may include your name, address, position title, telephone/fax numbers, email addresses and any further information you provide. We will not collect sensitive information, for example about your race, political beliefs, religion or health, unless this information is required to enable us to provide you with services. If we need sensitive information, we will ask you for your consent when we collect this information.

Personal information about an individual will only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected, except where the use or disclosure is required or authorised by or under law. We may disclose your contact details to Vaccine Solutions Pty Ltd or to a related third party, for example to a conference organiser promoting a conference of which the CRC-VT is a sponsor or supporter, or to CRC-VT associates conducting a survey. These third parties will be required to hold this information in confidence.

The CRC-VT will take reasonable steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. The CRC-VT will destroy or de-identify the personal information it has collected once the information is no longer required for the purposes noted above.

Our premises are in a secure building, which has 24 hours security. Our IT systems are password protected and we frequently update our anti-virus software in order to protect our systems (and the data contained in those systems) from computer viruses. The CRC-VT does not sell, in whole or part, the personal information it collects and does not disclose it to other organisations, except as provided above.

If you think that any personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us, and following authentication, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that it is corrected.

If you do not consent to the CRC-VT using your personal information as detailed above, please send an email to the Administration and Finance Manager at crcvt@qimr.edu.au and an appropriate stop will be put in place.
